May 27 – Triacastela to Sarria (18.2 km)

This is where things change on the Camino.

You don’t need to do a whole Camino to get a compostella. Just the last 100km. For the French Way, that starting point is Sarria. Many people don’t have the time, money, ability and/or inclination to do a whole Camino, but many (many, many) can and do walk the last 100km.

So, apparently after today it’s about to get pretty crowded up in here.

This tree is over 800 years old.

These two Way-markers were across the street from one another…..guess it’s not an exact science….

This quarry is where the stones for Santiago cathedral came from. During the time when the stones were being transported there, pilgrims would take a stone or a cart full or whatever they thought they could carry to help the cause.

Lots of cows, and another brutal downhill day.
