These flowers are on the 100mil peso notes. Everyone else’s money is so much prettier than ours.

After this photo Sharon had some trouble with heat/altitude/humidity/who knows. I promised her I wouldn’t post those pics. But of course I took pics. (I’ll show y’all later.)

A stopping point before our hike today. And some not-so-wild-life. Our furry welcoming committee.

Small plane, small town. Our guides Ana and Daniel

Boat ride, and our first view of wildlife. Iguanas, howler monkeys (ok, look close y’all, I was on a moving boat), turtles, and I forget the names of the birds. Where we are going is very remote!

More of lovely Bogotá

Fernando Botero donated his collection (including a lot of his work plus a lot of work from other very famous artists) to the city under the condition that entry be free to the public. He believed art is for everyone. Which is really lovely.

Chocolate tasting. Very yummy

Out first te de coca. It’s supposed to help with the altitude. Not sure if it does but it’s quite tasty.

Bogotá closes a lot of major streets on Sundays for runners and cyclists. It’s also perhaps the most dog-friendly place I’ve ever been. Lots to like!

This is our wonderful guide Lorenzo

Cathedral of Monserrate
Tango de Pista champions José Louis Salvo and Carla Rossi. ATS Anniversary Weekend milonga – October 10, 2026

I was born into the absolute best family in the world and then became even more blessed when I found my Atlanta family.
Both inspire me every day. I am filled to bursting with love for these people.

When: October 24 – November 23, 2026
Where: Columbia, Argentina, Brasil and Peru
Who: Me, and my sister Sharon in Columbia, one of my BRFs (best running friends) Noreen in Argentina and Brazil, and one of my biking buddies Vivian in Peru
How: I’m getting another 4-week sabbatical for my 30th anniversary with my company! Can you believe it’s been 5 years since the last one? Time flies whether you’re having fun or not.
Why: I’ve been to 5 of the 7 continents and Latin America will be the 6th. It’s been on my bucket list for a long time. Hard to believe, but there will still be a couple of places in Latin America on that bucket list after this trip, but I’m certainly getting a lot in!

Sharon and will be going to Columbia

Nooreen and I will be in Argentina and Brazil

Vivian and I will be going to Peru
