On the Road to Find Out

So – in the park is Caño Cristales, which you may have seen in the last scene of the movie Encanto

The colors in the river come from a plant that can only be found in this place. It is different colors based on the season, the location, the amount of sunlight it gets, etc. It can be green, yellow, red, purplish, or brown, making
it the river of many colors.

Our hotel. I keep getting lost on the way to our cabin. But they have a cold towel and fruity beverage waiting when you arrive each day.

These flowers are on the 100mil peso notes. Everyone else’s money is so much prettier than ours.

After this photo Sharon had some trouble with heat/altitude/humidity/who knows. I promised her I wouldn’t post those pics. But of course I took pics. (I’ll show y’all later.)

A stopping point before our hike today. And some not-so-wild-life. Our furry welcoming committee.

Small plane, small town. Our guides Ana and Daniel

Boat ride, and our first view of wildlife. Iguanas, howler monkeys (ok, look close y’all, I was on a moving boat), turtles, and I forget the names of the birds. Where we are going is very remote!

More of lovely Bogotá

Fernando Botero donated his collection (including a lot of his work plus a lot of work from other very famous artists) to the city under the condition that entry be free to the public. He believed art is for everyone. Which is really lovely.

Chocolate tasting. Very yummy

Out first te de coca. It’s supposed to help with the altitude. Not sure if it does but it’s quite tasty.

Bogotá closes a lot of major streets on Sundays for runners and cyclists. It’s also perhaps the most dog-friendly place I’ve ever been. Lots to like!

This is our wonderful guide Lorenzo
